Shari decided that she wanted to help animals in any way she could. She formed the Paws Unlimited Foundation in 2001, with the original goal of providing financial assistance to people who could not afford veterinary care and food for their pets. Shari started out letting several vets know that the foundation would be willing to help clients who could not cover the cost of treatments. Shari started rescue work a couple of years later, because too often an owner would decide to give up their pet - not necessarily for financial reasons, but simply for convenience. Many sweet and loving pets would find themselves homeless for reasons she still can not understand. Shari would get involved by making arrangements for foster care, putting up fliers and eventually placing the pets in new homes.
Though Shari had rescued and placed many, many animals there were so many more in need. So she decided to work toward the dream of opening a shelter of her own. She bought a plot of land in Kingston, NY and proceeded to have the shelter built. With the shelter complete she now has the facility to rescue and place many more animals and looks forward to continuing this good work.
