Paws Unlimited began helping animals in need in 2001. Our goal now is
to build a new shelter in order to help more animals on a larger scale.
We are diligently working to raise money -- through donations, grants,
and fundraisers -- that will be used to build a no-kill shelter for adoptable
companion animals. In addition to facilitating our rescue and adoption
efforts, this shelter will especially address the needs of older dogs,
who have a much worse chance of being adopted than their younger counterparts.
This shelter will have an area where elderly dogs can spend the rest of
their life in comfort -- not a cage.
At this point, we have purchased a plot of land in Kingston, New York
(pictures shown on this page). Soon the site will be excavated, and the
footings put in for the foundation slab. We are excited about the progress
we've made, but there is still a great deal to do. We are now working
on raising the money for further construction in the spring.
Plans for our shelter include the following:

On-call quality veterinary medical care |

Spay/neuter collaboration at low costs |

Love and care for each animal until it is placed in a suitable home |
